Trouble at the rear

Well, another thread on the much discussed issue of seat comfort. After trying numerous saddles from numerous manufacturers i can still not manage to cycle for more then 4 miles without having to stop for relief! The furthest ive managed is 31k using 2 pairs of padded gel shorts and a bobble hat on the seat for good measure, even with this i needed to stop every few miles.

Im 6' 4" and have a road bike with a (slightly too small) 56cm top tube, i have however added a 175mm stem to effectively lengthen the distance from the seat to the bars to 69cm. Im thinking of going down the route of trying a 60cm Dolan Pre Cursa alloy frame has anyone seen any reviews on them?

Pain, numbness or both?

Too much padding can cause issues.

Without knowing anything else, I'm inclined to think your frame is much too small for you. With that said, your saddle issues could be fit related, saddle related, or body asymmetry related. Have you had your fit on the bike checked? Where is the saddle pain? Is it only on one side? Have you checked your saddle position? Generally it's best to start with the saddle level and adjusting angle as needed, if needed, down the road. Have you had your sit bone width measured? Such measurements aren't foolproof when it comes to finding a good saddle, but they can greatly help. Certainly, if your saddle is too narrow or too wide (or the wrong shape), you can get pain. Do you have a leg length discrepancy? Did you lose an ass cheek in street violence? Giving more information might help people point in you in a more helpful direction.
 
Its pain on both sit bones initially, and if i try to ride through it i get numbness too between em too. Stopping for a minute or two allows me to carry on for another few miles before having to stop again. It remains tender/painful for around a week before i can sit back on the bike again. Ive tried all manner of seat angles and adjusting the fore and aft position too, as for leg discrepancy all's ok in that department, my main activity is running with no issues whatsoever. I think as you say maybe a visit to a specialist could be the next step as yet haven't had the sit bones measured - Sounds like a plan!

Oh and just looked, i do have two ass cheeks - Phew!
