I am planning on switching from Fast Tack to Tufo tape, and
I'm wondering: do I have to remove my old glue residue or
can I lay the tape down on top of it?

not yield as strong a bond as using a single type properly
applied. I've never tried the tape myself, or Fast Tack.
I've always used Continental cement, which works well, and
can be easily removed from rims with lacquer thinner and
scotchbrite pads if necessary. -

can I lay the tape down on top of it?I use the Tufo tape and so far it's been flawless. I suggest you remove any remnants of old glue with a solvent and start with a clean rim.
