Twenty Americans are slated to compete in the first round of the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup series in Houffalize, Belgium this weekend. Nine men will represent the United States as part of a 245-rider elite menandrsquo;s field, while 11 of 128 riders in the elite womenandrsquo;s field will be Americans. Since USA Cycling introduced several financial incentive programs for mountain bike athletes, American participation at the sport's top level has increased dramatically and resulted in a number-three ranking in the world for both men and women.
