Hi,

I am still pretty much a newbie at this cycling thing so excuse this probably stupid question.

I recieved a new track pump today and have finally got to see what pressure I have been running my tyres at this turned out to be 40psi I have now got them pumped to 115psi rear and 105 front. My question is will this affect the speed I ride at much? Or am I hoping for too much :)

Going from 40 psi to 115 psi will make a big difference.

So if a little more air pressure is good, more yet would be better - right? Nope. Once you get over around 110 psi your bike just starts to bounce around more. It may feel faster but you won't go any faster.

I'm new, but have been reading alot.

It should definitely make pedaling a bit easier, but you'll notice the ride is rougher.

If you overinflate them, it actually does the opposide. 100-115psi seems like a good range generally, for us less experienced riders who a difference of 5-10psi will mean little/nothing.
