1. winning some desert training rides earns better than Het Volk.
2. Kelme lost some star riders again but is unusually scoring well with fast finishers.
3. the standings are very influenced by 2.3 races whose impact will deflate as the season passes.
Especially Milaneza and Lampre.

Dan,

I can only guess what you imply, so here's my reply: only the 10 best results will count for the
team ranking. Does who did well already have thus less opportunity for gain than those who didnt.

I really implied nothing. You noted a 2.3 "training ride". I was curious to see what other "training
rides" were on the calendar. So I thought others might also find it interesting.

I didn't know the rule on "top 10" results -- that's significant, as you note. It essentially makes
such races irrelevent to the top of the rankings.

Good. I plan to follow the scoring closely , partly to assess the impact of cat 3 races on the
rankings (influence of different races in general). I think Qatar (but also the flat Mallorca races)
for example are definitely training races where sprinters can score "easy points". That doesnt mean
I'd want to relegate all the 1.3 or 2.3 races. Or that I oppose the idea of giving an UCI status to
promote cycling in "new" regions.

Right. A good combination of training for the big teams and a chance for the little guys to show
what they have. This is well captured in the scoring scheme, where the results end up getting pushed
off the bottom for the big guns, making them irrelevent, while for the little guys it gives them a
chance to generate results which count toward placings in the TT2 and TT3 rankings.
