My brother who lives in the UK is planning on buying a bike. He's also going to visit me here in NYC in a month or so.

I've done a little bit of research and noticed that bikes seem to be a lot cheaper here in the US than in the UK. Before I advise my bro to buy his bike when he comes to visit, is there anything we need to know about buying in the US and taking back to UK? Obviously he'll need to add NY sales tax to the US price, and maybe swap the brake levers round.

Anything else?

Cheers

Go to one of those private shipping stores that act as agents for fedx or ups, They might know exactly what costs are, how to pack. I know you can get special bike boxes meant of one use, or many.

NY sales tax - If it is delivered outside of NY state then tax is waived. This means you will not have use of it in the US.
