Is it possible to remove the plastic cap on an Ultegra STI right lever (current 9 speed) without
destroying it? Any info appreciated.

if they are identical to mine, try this:
1. pull back on the lever until you expose the part usually under the hood.
2. this should expose a tiny screw which, providing you have the right size phillips (its a tiny
one), you can unscrew and remove the cap.
just be careful, those caps are flimsy as anything, which is probably why they blow off when you hit
the ground hard enough. i've done it once
hope this helps. and if you need to replace them, your local shop should be able to order them, i am
unaware of any other way to get 'em.
