Ultegra triple Small-to-Middle ring shift problem

You have one click on each chainring (out for the inner and in for the outer) and you lose that
adjustment when you move to a triple.

Not exactly..With shimano triples, ultegra and 105...when in the small ring, first click moves the
der, but not enough to get the chain to the middle ring, next one will. Another one will put chain
onto the big ring. When coming down, first click, middle ring, next, middle ring 'trim', next one,
small ring.

I have tried to explain to many that this is the way the triple left shifter is SUPPOSED to work..
but alas, in vain.. so thanks again...

Once in a great while I have found a setup that will make it from the inner to the middle ring in
one BIG push.

But, much better to take the little (trim), click first and release the lever and then take the full
stroke. This gives that lovely bit of overshift that assures the complete shift into middle. Very
quick and quiet.

My triple is note quite in tune as I often accidentally shift to big when trying to shift from small
to middle. I wondering why the shift from small to middle takes two, while big to middle takes one
and then has one for trim, it seems like they should both behave the same?
