FYI. Unless I am mistaken, the cleat is for the WELLGO clone of the obsolete SHIMANO SPD-R pedal ... the difference is the front of the binding on the WELLGO pedal is not as shallow as on the Shimano pedal.

  • the pedal was sold under the Wellgo label + Ritchey + Nashbar & probably some others ...

But, rather than look for the pedal to match the cleat, just consider buying a new pair of classic LOOK/-compatible or LOOK KEO or Shimano SL pedals ...

  • when you buy a new pair of pedals from your LBS or from EXCEL or COLORADO CYCLIST or PERFORMANCE/etc. then you will also receive a new set of cleats with the pedals.

BTW. If you don't want to use a cleat which uses the "standard" 3-hole mount, then I believe that the particular SIDI road shoe has cleat mounting plates which you can buy (they used to be about $16 for the pair) which will be specific to one-or-another alternate cleat ... that is, the plates were cleat specific.

alfeng, you never cease to amaze me with your knowledge of cycling!

Thanks so much for all your help. I'm brand new to cycling and want to keep costs down to a minimum while I feel things out. Is it only a particular model of Ritchey pedals that match these cleats do you know? There's a pair of pedals Ritchey pedals on ebay now going very cheap but I'm not certain if they'll fit.

Is there any reason why you want to stick with those cleats and pedals with which they would work? I think you might be better off buying a newer pedal/cleat package.

Probably not ...

It's hard to tell without a picture.

Again, if you don't want to buy an adapter plate for your shoes, then just buy ANY pair of LOOK/-compatible clone pedals ... it's hard to believe that you won't be able to find a pair for under $30.

Sight unseen, your pedals may be good as paperweights.

Sight unseen, they may be worth about $15 ... maybe more, maybe less.

Alfeng, Thanks again for all your help and suggestions!!! I found a pair of what are described as: "Wellgo road pedals, Look compatible" This sounds like exactly what your talking about. Do the pics look like a match ? If you don't mind me bugging you one last time ??

and yes I know that this is trying to get away cheap but this is how some of us have to do it. If at some point I become a true cyclist (and not sure what that definition would be) than I'll put away the cheap used entry shoes/cleats/pedals (or sell them on eBay) and step up to the plate for a fine new set.. but as I said I'm just testing the waters. Everyone's points are very good.. sometimes piecing used **** together ends up costing you more and not giving you want you really need.. but other times you nail it and it encourages to keep upgrading and progressing.. I'm hopeful that cyclingforums will help towards that end both regarding gear and road skills/knoweldge. Again thanks for all your help folks!

Those cleats and pedals aren't compatible. Do the pedals pictured come with cleats?
