I would like to thank everyone. Well except Sheldon for their advice on my dilemma. Last night my husband took a sanding pad and then very, very fine steel wool to it and it looks much better. We will be putting mineral oil on it later this week. (When we get some). The poster that said it looks like a Carving board and not a cutting board. You hit it right on the head. That's what that groove was (Major DUH). Even though it is a carving board I am going to replace the old wooden cutting board on my counter with this new one and just use it. No one but my Husband and I are likely to see it. The old one I used to cut about everything on and this new one is much bigger. I have really nice countertops in my kitchen and I don't like to cut on them, I use the board to protect the countertops and my knife blades. I knew I could count on everyone here; you all always come through for me, thank you all again.
