Josh said:Hey all,
I'd like to convery my rear crankset from a 9-spd to a 10-spd and
change the (stock) ratio.
Clearly I need a new casette, chain and rear derailler. Do I need a
new shifter or can mine be modified to work? Also, Do I need a new
front derailler (if I do coule someone explain why?)
Anything else I haven't thought of?
If you mean you want to convert your rear CASSETTE from 9 spd to 10spd,
what kind of shifters do you have? IF you have Campy Ergo levers, then
YES, assuming you have the newer *rounded* hood levers, you can modify
the it to make it 10 speed.
IF you have the older "pointy" hood Ergo levers that originally came as
8 speed or early 9 speed, then the answer is NO.
Here's a pic of the difference in hoods:

If you have Shimano STI levers, forget it, you'll need to buy new
shifters too.
