Hi Folks,

I am new to this forum, but i need a bit of advice on a bike measurement.

What size of a Dawes Giro 500 (2003) model with sloping toprail, would be required for a cyclist with a height of 6' 1 ".

I know that Alloy bikes measure different from mild steel bikes, and that mild steel is from the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube, but how do you measure an Alu' bike.

Little hard to dial you in with such limited information, but I would say at least a 58, maybe the 62cm... (Can't you get a LBS to measure you up?)

How so?

Dont have time,

Going down South 2morrow to buy this bike, The owner states that he is also the same height as i, however with the sloping down tube will it look as if the bike is too small.

I know that most 2003-04 road bikes have the "Compact" design.

So i will just have to try it and see..long journey though.......

But thanks anyway.......
