US cyclist charged after pedestrian death.

Also in today's paper, they were suggeting that gaol sentances for dangerous driving had increased as a % of those charged.

Good. The cyclist broke the rules and now he's going to be judged by his peers.

Also good is the fact that this is newsworthy. Newsworthy items are items which are unusual, abberant from the norm. Nip over to aus.cars and you won't find links from overseas newspapers about motorists being charged with manslaughter becuase that's something which happens all the time.

Unfortunately here's another story (from NZ) of cyclists not setting a good example. The article lacks some detail, but whoever was responsible for this avoidable situation sure ain't setting a good example to younger cyclists. :mad:

Lacks some detail, horribly written, no clear message about what was being done wrong /should be done correctly.

The injured cyclist may also have been potentially at fault.

maybe they were riding Schwit Stingrays, just like in the TV ad.

"Traffic calming" that narrows a nice wide easily shared road is always bad for cyclists.
