Friend selling 2006 Allez. It's a 52 size. I'm 5'9 with 32 inseam. I rode it and it feels more streched out then my 19" Hybrid. Having never ridden a real road bike do you think its too small? Its got Tiagra/105's and can get it for $200.

How tall is your friend?

I am the same height as you with a similar inseam. I rode a 52cm steel Allez for a couple months two decades ago when I was younger and more flexible but it was a stretch. I had to run a longer stem but the head tube was shorter than ideal and ultimately put me too low on the bars. A 53 or 54 would have been a better size for me (i.e. something with a 53.5-54.5cm effective top tube).

Hybrids are typically very upright, and a 19" one at that probably has a much shorter rider compartment than a bike that would fit you ideally so even if the Allez really is too small for you it will still feel more stretched out. If I were you I would try and find a 53 or a 54 to test ride so at least you have something to compare that Allez to.

It doesn't matter how good the price is if the bike doesn't fit right.
