I'm working on a 1990s vintage Trek 700 Multi-track with 700c wheels. When I installed some Deore v-brakes that I had from a MTB, I noticed that they splayed outwards much more than on the wider MTB frame. The brake bosses are about a 1/2 inch closer together on the 700c frame. The brakes work fine but IMHO look kinda strange.

Are there v-brakes specifically for "road" frames or are all v-brakes the same?

Can you move spacers on the brake shoe studs from the inside of the brake arms to the outside? V brakes work best when the brake arms are roughly parallel. More exactly, with Shimano V brakes the inside surfaces of the brake arms where the brake pad studs attach should be parallel when brake is applied.

Definately "tec". Can't say I like the design much but it would depend on what bike they went on.
