I am planning a three day fast tour from Bristol, TN up mostly Route 11
in VA to Front Royal and then east toward my home in northern Virginia.
Any help would be greatly appreciated concerning the condition of Route
11 all the way up Virginia: traffic volume, shoulder availability,
construction, detours, etc. I need to make a good number of miles each
day, so I'm looking to stay on a direct route. Thanks.

Harrisonburg up Rt 11 to Front Royal and then to over the PA line, and
then, I think he returned by another route, maybe Rt 3, iirc. But doggone
it I can't remember where I saw it.Maybe the Shenandoah Valley Cycling Club (SVCC) over near JMU can help. You
might try emailing them and asking. Meanwhile I'll look around. You can
google on that name, but if you have trouble finding a contact, let me
know...Can you give an approximate time or month when you'll be doing this?

so. It's one of the preferred routes for cyclists around here -- a bit of
traffic, but not bad at all, and generally wide enough. You might be interested in fellow club member Fess Green's book about riding the
