My wife and I are interested in a MTB vacation. We are from the East
and are willing to fly to wherever we can get a taste of the mountain
slab riding that I see so often and dream about (Moab? Zion?. Our
plan was to rent bikes rather than trasport ours. A place that has
some nightlife, camping is prefered. Not too big into tour style.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey,
Well it's fairly easy to be honest - fly into Salt Lake City, hire a car to
drive to Moab, then hire bikes there. MTBing is such big business there that
there are masses of places renting bikes, from cheap rigid through to top of
the range full sussers. It's a fantastic place - you can pick up a book of
local trails and there are enough to keep you busy for months... Personally
I recommend Bartlett Wash, and, obviously, the Slickrock trail

Good luck!

Moab is really busy, but you won't be content until you've tried it.
Will you? ;-)

Gooseberry Mesa.

Bill "oh, wait...you said with nightlife" S.

PS: so check out St. George?

Are you going to ride bikes, or disco down? Only a true barney would
prefer "nightlife" to world class mountain biking. Why don't you take
up tiddlywinks?

If you don't mind single track and some height you might enjoy Lauterbrunnen
Switzerland http://www.mtbr.com/files/data/647.html . As for the nighlife
great parties down in InterLaken and Lauterbrunne.

Enjoy,
Noah
