Hi all
Sad news - Mike ('the bike') Nassan, Brisbane legend and BQ life member
has passed away. He was unwell for some time.
Mike was instrumental in the earlier days of Bicycle Institute of Qld
and was well known to me from his occasional visits to the office where
he would explain his passions for pro-cycling ideas on big picture stuff
- very keen on having the Australian cycle manufacturing industry
brought back from China particularly, plus sleep disorders of drivers
rectified.
Mike was regularly seen in the 80s & 90s from my recollection riding his
tandem around town, shirtless and wearing a sombrero. He was a regular
at craft markets and I believe he had no car but towed his wares to
markets..... a great example of bicycles for transport.
Vale Mike the bike. Will write an obituary for the Qld Cyclist so if
anyone knows more, feel free to reply to me - especially if there's
surviving family.
