Howdy, My neighbor has a '93 or '94 Counterpoint Presto he is interested in selling. It has about 5000 commuting miles on it. Elastomer rear suspension and what appears to be an early RST front shock. The bike sports a folding boom and a "flip it" type stem. It has a vintage Sachs 3x7 drive train with Suntour X1 cranks. Not sure about the brakes, long reach sidepulls of some sort. Aside from the dust, its in pretty good shape. It also has an old avocet computer and panniers and the custom counterpoint seat bag. I told him I would help him sell it, we are trying to figure out what its worth. Any ideas? He paid about $2400 with all the assorted accessories and whatnot.
I write from UK, and have the Pashley version of this called the PDQ. I bought it end of '97, and with things like mudguards, why sew? bag, luggage rack etc cost about UK pounds 1200 or currently about $2140. The 'bent scene here is pretty dead at the moment and I reckon I will be lucky to get the equivalent of $900 for it - about 40 per cent of the orginal purchase cost. Which is why I put off a planned upgrade for another season to squeeze a bit more value out of it. Phil Hertfordshire UK

Thanks Phil, we were thinking around the same figure. Possibly $900-$1100 or so. Anyone else have any thoughts?
