MANCHESTER, United Kingdom (AFP) — Alex Dowsett (Movistar) set a world hour record on Saturday, covering 52.937 kilometers at the Manchester Velodrome.
The 26-year-old Briton improved on the mark of 52.491km set in February by Rohan Dennis (BMC Racing).
It is the fourth time the record has been broken since September 2014, and Dowsett’s mark may not stand for long. Countryman Bradley Wiggins, the 2012 Tour de France winner and four-time Olympic gold medalist, is scheduled to make an attempt on the record June 7 in London.
