Coryn Rivera (UnitedHealthcare) won the fourth stage of the Redlands Bicycle Classic on Saturday.
UnitedHealthcare was massing at the front with one to go in the 60-minute Redlands Criterium, run in summery weather on a 1-mile course downtown. Leah Kirchmann (Optum-Kelly Benefits) was trying to freelance off the UHC leadout in the final lap, but UHC kept the train on track and finished one-two with Alexis Ryan second and Kirchmann third.
“I had full faith in my team. We’ve really perfected the crit leadout,” said Rivera, who said that while there were “a few attacks here and there,” her team covered them all and helped set up the winning field sprint.
Editor’s note: Stay tuned for more from Redlands.
