Seventeen teams from around the world are confirmed to race the Philadelphia International Cycling Classic World Cup on June 7. The race will consist of a 12.3-mile circuit through the city of Philadelphia and features one of the most historic climbs in American racing, the Manayunk Wall.
“This is an exciting year for Philadelphia, with the upgrade to a UCI road World Cup,” said race director Robin Morton. “We’re fortunate to have this level of women’s professional racing in the U.S. again.”
Powerhouse teams such as Velocio-SRAM, which ranked second in the world last season, and Alé-Cipollini will bring strong rosters to Philadelphia this summer. The 2013 and 2014 champion, American Evelyn Stevens of Boels Dolmans, and Wiggle Honda’s Giorgia Bronzini, have both said they have their eyes on the race.
The Philadelphia International Cycling Classic will once again award equal prize money for KOM, QOM, best sprinters, best young riders, and the overall winners in the men’s and women’s races.
