Peter Sagan sprinted to his second win in the 2015 Tour de Suisse on Thursday in stage 6, bursting clear in the final few hundred meters after a sharp right turn in Biel, Switzerland.
The Tinkoff-Saxo Slovak, wearing the black jersey of the points competition leader, out-sprinted Lotto-Soudal’s Jurgen Roelandts after 193.1 kilometers of lumpy racing. Alexander Kristoff (Katusha) rounded out the podium in third.
Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) kept the yellow jersey he earned Wednesday with his solo stage win, and is 42 seconds ahead of Geraint Thomas (Sky) in the overall.
The early breakaway included Matej Mohoric (Cannondale-Garmin), Axel Domont (Ag2r La Mondiale), Jerome Baugnies (Wanty-Groupe Gobert), and Marek Rutkiewicz (CCC Sprandi-Polkowice).
Friday’s 164.6km stage 7 from Biel Düdingen will include four category 3 climbs and may prove to be another day suited to Sagan’s strengths.
