The bike was unveiled at the start of Saturday’s Krempels King of the Road Challenge, the charity ride that Ted and his family organize in support of the Krempels Center of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

“Ted has always been a very special and loyal member of the Cannondale family, beginning with his first bike — a CAAD3 [handed down from his brother, Robbie]. It’s only fitting that he continues on to his next adventure with a bike that is just as unique as he is,” said Brian Immel, VP global marketing, Cannondale.

The custom SuperSix presented to King features a paint scheme that includes highlights from Ted’s career. A blue metallic flake paint job represents the original Cannondale R500 that Ted rode at the start of his racing career while the traditional retirement gold adorns the front end of the bike

Ted’s custom retirement bike includes components from current Cannondale-Garmin team sponsors. These include Mavic CC40 wheels, Fizik Arione saddle, FSA bar, stem and seatpost, and a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 drivetrain.

The Krempels King of the Road Challenge is a fundraising event to benefit the Portsmouth-based non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people living with brain injury from trauma, tumor or stroke, a cause close to Ted King, and his family.
