Actually, the Lemond era was tape delayed on CBS. Remeber the annoying Jon Tesch music? It was only in the LA era that we had "live" coverage, hell even the 1996 Olympic Road Race was tape-delayed.

Yeah, but at least we had some coverage in the Lemond era. And I'll take weird coverage over no coverage. You'll notice I referred to the pre-Lemond era when we had effectively zero coverage here in the USA. Aside from perhaps a 10 minute segment each week during The Wide World of Sports. Unless you had contacts in Europe, you had to wait two months for the next issue of Velo-News to come out in order to find out what actually happened. I'll take the Lemond era coverage over that any day!
