Vetta 100HR sudden and weird problem

Good afternoon. I got a little problem I might need your help with. I have a
Vetta 100HR wireless computer with wireless cadence option I got more than a
year ago. But I installed it just this morning.
So, after the install, I needed to check my new toy out. A mile and a half
into the ride, I suddenly lost any speed and cadence inputs. I spent some
time trying to figure out what's up, but nothing. I thought that it may be
old batteries in both wireless units, even though it's odd they went out at
the same time. Put new ones and again, nothing. The heartrate monitor is
fine though. It is receiving info just fine. I moved the wireless units
around, as well as magnets, but nothing happened. Any ideas what could it
be? It is weird how it stopped working right away.

Have the same model without the cadence. I have had incidents like
that (but only with the speed) but it always came back and I chalked it
up to some sort of interference - lots o' farms around here and for
some reason, they seem to be radio frequency emitters. Invisible dog
fences wreak havoc on many brands of wireless cyclocomputers.

Course, there is a little switch (called a reed switch) in both the
cadence and speed pickups that gets closed by the passing of the
magnet. These might both have failed at the same time. Seems a little
unlikely.

Warranty claim. Don't know how good Vetta is, but Cateye threw three
pickup units at me just for asking on a 2 year old unit.

Lots of farms have electric fences around them. They emit massive
amounts of RFI (radio frequency interference) if not installed
properly.
