Would this bike be good enough to get me to and from work 30 miles total. I know it has crappy components and is proabbly an all around hunk of junk but do you think it will do the job? I could always upgrade components after they break. I'll probably turn it into a single speed some day. Thanks for the help

ya know, I just saw them and realized I'm pretty close to St. Augustine and in the shopping for a new bike. Found one used pretty cheap and want to know about others thoughts. If possible, I'd love to hear back ASAP thanks!

I think even some guidance on what to look for and check if I were to go look at one.

Experience on the parts?

I've seen worse ...

It is probably better than the FIRST French bike (Gitane) I got many years ago ... it will certainly get you to-and-fro as long as you keep it lubed, tires inflated & ensure none of the spokes lose their tension. In fact, the weak link may only be the low-spoke-count wheels ... maybe not.

EVERYTHING should be serviceable & last as long as you don't abuse it any moe than you would a $2000+ bike.

BTW. I hope you realize that it has DOWNTUBE shifters ... there is NOTHING wrong with that ... just as long as you know that's what you will be getting/using.

But, IMO, you would probably/possibly be better off buying a USED bike off of eBay for that money (i.e, up to the mid-$200 range + shipping) as the bike you ride to work on & as the foundation for component upgrading.
