The only problem it wasn't a race it was a charity ride. Other than who
could raise the most money I'm not sure what other competitive angle
was attached to this event.

Maybe it was like the local Pacific Populaire (not a charity ride, but a
100 km rando ride in April). At the start, one of the organizers stands
in front of the pack and says "this is not a race!" and then the front
half of the pack went "ho ho ho ho ho!"

Best finishing time was 2:52; I clocked a 2:55. Arguably the fastest
ride I have ever done.

IN loooking at the event home page it turns out they did keep track of
the first male and female finishers for the rides ( and the largest
fundraiser). They also had a couple of criteriums, of course the
criteriums were limited to the celebrities involved who were partnered
up with people from the charity that was benefiting form event

For those who can't watch the TV coverage and have to know the results
of the criteriums here they are

First Race:

1st ­ Jeremy Serrano and Jay Gibson (12:41)

2nd ­ Jon Lowe and Rob Lowe (13:34)

3rd ­ Bill Nelson and Tate Donovan (14:14)

Second Race:

1st ­ Jeremy Serrano and Andrew Bancroft (12:23)

2nd ­ Steven White and Carl Lewis (13:48)

3rd ­ Mathew Lowe and Greg Dune (14:01)

this reminds me of the announcements before concerts at The Fillmore in
San Francisco. The announcer states: "The State of Kalifornia has
decided this should be a non-smoking venue." At that exact point,
sparks from lighters light up the place. Quite funny.
