  1. I am looking for easy-moderate circular walks of up to 5 miles in
Bristol. Can anybody suggest any that are particularly good for the
winter months - not too wet under foot?

Leigh Woods and the tow path along the Avon is good. A few of the paths in
the woods are muddy right now and the towpath has puddles but it's mostly
reasonably dry and hard surfaced stuff. There are a couple of sign posted
routes from the main carpark to follow but you can easily make your own up
if you've got a sense of direction or a map. Or Ashton Court is just about
big enough to make a 5 mile walk around it without needing to leave its
boundaries. Or if you really want to keep your feet clean and dry there's a
wealth of interest just walking around the docks or the Downs and the
    suspension bridge over the gorge.
