Has anyone ever washed the back pack part of a Camelbak, not the bladder? Mine stinks and was wondering how to safely do it.

Thanks.

I've washed mine a few times. Just get a sinkful of warm water with some mild laundry soap, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, rinse very well and hang to dry. I try to do it on a hot day in the summer so I can hang it outside, but inside in a warm place would work too.

what works on my sea kayaking shoes, once in awhile is a short rinse in a very dilute chlorine solution. Try your final rinse, in clear water with a few ounces chlorox. Then dry fully as quickly as reasonable - stink is caused by remaining live bacteria which thrives in moisture; therefore the chlorox rinse, and thorough drying - try a shaded corner on a dry breezy day, or throw in the dryer on med-low for 10-15 min

Thanks for the responses. I think I will try washing it in the sink first.
