Hi again,
I had the most incredible experience out in CA this fall. I had a watsu; shiatsu in a pool of warm
water, surrounded by a number of passive participants who are whispering. A float is tied around the
feet, and the practitioner holds the recipient by the shoulders, moving their body through the
water. Essentially, the drag from the water allows the practitioner to swing the body of the
recipient in ways that stretch and relax the body. When the head of the recipient is raised above
the water level, he/she gets a hint of the whispering that is going on around him/her, a very
unusual effect when one is in a meditative state. Added to this is the close physical contact with
the practitioner, creating an intimate experience unlike any massage I've had before. I'm thinking
of pursuing this as an avenue for body treatment. It isn't very popular here on the east coast from
what I can tell. I wonder if anyone else in this group has experienced it or has input.
