Weight difference between madone and madone SL

the frames are the same right? but either or both i guess....

The madone 5.9 is 50grams heavier than the 5.9 SL. If you pick them up at your local BS you will feel a big difference though as the 2005 5.9 has heavier aero wheelset than the standard race x ltes on the SL. Hope this helps...

I think the weight difference is about right. Mostly the difference between the basic and SL versions is aero-dynamic shape. The SL's have a "traditional frame" shape (all standard "round" tubes), while the standard have the seatpost flare around the rear wheel, and some differences in the rest of the frame.

I read an article on thepaceline.com about how the team will all ride Madone 5.9's (even lance) on the "flatter" stages, and then the climbers like Azevedo and Lance will switch to the SL's on mountain stages. They'll also switch from aero wheels to the really light carbon ones.

Looks like "much of a muchness", but I wish people would take those things off the frames because they can make quite a difference.
A seat clamp, cage bolts and cable guides can get close to 50g.
Hmmmm...seems I'm a Weight Weenie :)
