weight loss during the winter

Have any of you been succeful get those few extra pounds off during the winter season??

On the bike: Ride at an easy pace for long periods. This will eat into your fat reserves. Important not to overeat after these rides, or you'll put it all back on.

Off the bike: Eat smaller portions. You will survive on less intake, and you have to keep telling this to yourself.
 
I think most people gain a little weight during winter. I'm biking less now that it's cold and I've already gained 2 lbs. I don't want to gain more than 6 lbs during my winter season. It sucks not being able to bike outside after work because of winter.
