The implication is that:

1) you are a bore too (tiresome and dull)
2) you cannot understand that doping is inextricably linked to Grand Tour participation, not just placing. Just to make a ProTour team demands doping.
3) You fail to grasp that illegal doping is the most relevant and important factors in endurance-based, sustainable power-based success.
4) you fail to grasp that the UCI, WADA, and all National sporting federations are keenly aware of drug cheating and fully committed to taking NO ACTION except in the form of empty platitudes.

And he added that his son, the junior champion cyclist, was also involved. Oh, and Lamkin chimed in too (sorry Tim), something about video taping it for the internet.

So I'd think, if you were going to kill someone, you'd probably kill Bobke, his son and Tim Lamkin, right? I mean, maybe if you killed those three, you'd get it out of your system and you wouldn't feel like killing anyone else? Just a thought.

Give it a try. Kill Bobke first and then reassess your feelings. Ask yourself, "How does this make me feel?"

Oh, yes. I remember House. I had a somewhat heated e-mail correspondence with him when he first started posting on the forum. I agree, he was worse than Flyer. I also agree with what you've said about Flyer. He was knowledgeable but it just got really repetetive.

I don't think Flyer really needed to be "vindicated"! I pretty much agreed with him all along. It just got tiring when one couldn't post anything about a Grand Tour (or really pro cycling in general) without having it turn into yet another doping debate.

There are pleny of people on the forum that realize that doping is just as big a factor as any other aspect of a cyclists training. Not all of us are as ignorant as Flyer thought. However, we don't feel we need to talk about it on every single thread any more than we feel we need to talk about how many training miles cyclists have logged on every single thread.

My attitude is that doping is part of professional cycling. It has been for over eighty years. For better or worse. I'm certainly not saying that it's a good thing, nor am I an "apologist". I recognize it's a huge problem. But until they ban professional cycling or make a concerted, real effort to clean-up the sport, I'd like to be able to watch it, enjoy it, and discuss it without the doping Nazis interjecting themselves into my every conversation. But that's just me.

It's not just you!

No one is going to 'clean up' sports.

The marketing business model (WWE-freaky) works effectively. Absolutely no reason to change it.

Dead athletes can be easily replaced.
Drunk driving: routine
sexual assaults by doped athletes: part of a grand life
whistleblowers are easliy discredited (even Lemond can be made into a creep)

Only marketing and appearance matter. That why WADA exists. They have less budget money than Lance Armstrong net revenues--after paying Michele Ferrari's fee each year. And that is for ALL OLympic sport, not just silly blood doped cycling.

Richard Pound is a tax lawyer. What do you think that involves? Cheating or Gaming? Tax Havens, cool Excel spreadsheets, Foreign-based Trading Companies and Intercompany Transfer Pricing? (ie tax evasion schemes?)

It is all a big act. An illusion. What are the ethics of tax abatement versus doping detection counter measures? Is it not the same issue?

The illegal doping and death in here to stay--as are the empty denials.

The pretext must be shored up a bit after Operation Puerto. But teh FIFA and Tennis folks dodged that blood bag bullet w/o any issue whatsoever.
