Amberley was my starting point for today's walk. Lone walking too, so on
the road at 5:45 at the crack of dawn heading east to Amberley north of
Arundel. Sunny for the drive, although there were signs of some stormy
clouds around. Parked at High Titten on the South Downs Way and on my way
at 6:20, first point Rackham Hill. Continued east over Springhead Hill to
Chantry Post, with plenty of blue sky around ...... but the sky did look
rather mucky in many areas! Anyway, it wasn't going to deter me so I
pleasantly strolled onwards enjoying the quiet early morning South Downs.
Turned south at Chantry Post and headed for Blackpatch Hill, which was going
to be my breakfast stop. However, a large black cloud caught up with me and
decided to drop its content on me! Decided to miss breakfast for now. The
rain eventually passed, and I was back in sunshine as I approached Lee Farm.
A couple of more down pours came to visit, but not as bad as the first rain.
I was soon back on the South Downs Way close to Downs Farm, which meant a
short walk down to the car. Smashing 12 mile walk, in not too unpleasant
weather.
