I'm looking to buy a light so i can do some night rides. I see that they range anywhere from 100 to 900 dollars. I think my price range would not exceed 200-250. Can you guys suggest something i could use for road riding...I question how much horizontal range they provide since it's important to spot a pothole coming up 5 feet to the left if you decide to move in that direction. Hopefully you're not going to tell me that its the 400-infinity price range that gives you that quality=Þ. Thanks everyone

I have used the Cat-Eye 500 LED models for some time and they produce a decent beam for road and light trail riding. 4 AA Batts lasts 50 hrs or more. The big thing with them is the fact they are a mere 45 bucks.
One newcomer to the LED front is the Light& Motion (I forget what model number). It has an equivalent beam to an 8-10 watt halogen but with LED run time and reliability and a small case. MSRP $189. Pricey but worth it in my opinoin. -

I've had it 3 years. Rechargable battery still fine. All works great.
You done't need to spend alot for a good light.Cost.....(on sale now)...........$45.00.
