What is the name for that style of clamp?

I have a project im working on and being a cyclist that is the first thing I thought of
any idea what it would be called if I was looking to buy one?

Are they available in different sizes?

Thanks

I would call them a threaded cam clamp or hold down. If you're looking for some for other uses, woodworking supply stores often have them.

(no affiliation, just an example)

There are basically two types. One is just a short QR that passes through the lugs on the seat post binder (if you have such thing at the top of your bike's seat tube), and it looks like this: The other is actually a quick release seat post collar that's used on bikes that don't have a seat post binder. Really about the only seat binders left are on steel and titanium frames, and even there seat post collars might be the most common. At any rate, here's a quick release seat post collar: You can get either of these on eBay, at online shops, and in your local bike shops. If your LBS doesn't have what you need in stock, he/she can order one pretty quickly.

Thank you for your replies

I was thinking of the one in the second picture.
Would they make them in many different sizes or are they all about the same?

For cycling use they come in sizes from roughly 27mm to 35mm in diameter.

Here's some on ebay in a variety of sizes: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=quick+release+seat+post+collar&_sacat=0&_from=R40

But variations on this idea are used for a lot of industrial applications including things like industrial strength tripods, theater lighting stands, microphone stands and a lot of other things so the basic idea of a quick release shaft clamp is available from a lot of sources in a wide variety of diameters. So if you need something outside the range of normal seat tube diameters you can likely find what you need through some searching of industrial supply catalogs but they'll probably be pretty expensive in small quantities for something like this: http://www.industrialsupplymagazine.com/pages/Products---Stafford_062612.php
