Ok, ouch. That was a harder climb than I remember it. My legs are more wintery than I thought. Need... food... water...

Thought I'd describe my mutant bike here:

Frame- Kuwahara Apollo green frame... actually a touring frame (had to have a little block made for the rear brakes to fit a 700c wheel for the 27" space)... got it because it's a good size 48cm seat 52cm top - had downtube bosses brazed on but didn't end up using them

Fork - Nothing special... just a black chromoly fork
Headset - Cane Creek 1" threadless

Stem - ITM Snyper 90mm
Handlebars - Bontrager race 40cm

Hubs - Shimano Deore LX (old black ones)
Rims - nothing special... Rigida Aries
laced using DT swiss spokes
Tires - Michelin Axial Pro 700 x 25c... but those suck... used continental grand prix 3000... now trying Michelin Megamiums

Seatpost - Radical black seatpost
Saddle - Bontrager 3D titanium Selle San Marco

Shifters - Suntour commands
Front der - Shimano 600
Rear der - Shimano 600 8-speed
Cassette - Shimano ultegra 8-speed 12-25
Chain - SRAM PC48 cheap

Crankset - old 1970s Campagnolo Gran Sport (the one with flukes) 170mm
Chainrings - 42/52 Campagnolo
Bottom Bracket - Shimano XT
Pedals - Bontrager SPD

Brake Calipers - Shimano 600 dual pivots
Brake Levers - Modolo Mach II

Looks like it's plopped together eh.... but I love the old cranks with the low Q and cool flutes... the Suntour Command 7-speed shifters work fine with 8-speeds and are in a nice location.

The frame just felt too good when riding... so I used it

I had a Litespeed Arenberg before it got ripped off and I'm looking to replace it with the 2004 Lemond Zurich. I'm 53 and wasn't a very good climber at 33, so the lightweight of the Ti bike really helped. This bike seems somewhat heavier and I'm concerned about how well it will climb. Any feedback you can give me will be appreciated.

I ride a 2003 Trek 5500, Full Dura Ace 9 spd., Race Lites(lookin to upgrade), New 7800 Pedals, Use Alien Carbon seat post, Easton EC90 bars, Stella Azzurra Vice Versa stem, SLR saddle, Chris King NoThreadSet, Vetta V100 with Cadence, and Pro Race tires.

Well I finally have a new sweet bike! I have been researching for months and finally went out and test rode several bikes from Trek, Lemond. Specialized. I bought a Specialized Roubaix Elite with full ultegra components, carbon fork and seat stays. It has an incredibly smooth ride. It was several hundred dollars more than I though I would spend but I am very happy with my decision. I might have bought Roubaix with 105 components but they didn't have it in my size and I liked the looks of the elite better.

The bike I thought I was going to buy based on specs was the Fuji Roubaix Pro I never had a chance to ride. Performance bike didn't have the bike in my size. When I asked if they could order one so I could test ride it and possibly buy it, they said that I would have to pay for it for it before they ordered it. I told them to shove it. They are a joke.

I am lucky enough to have 3 bikes, all for different purposes obviously!

A nice custom track machine made with Columbus Airplane O/S w/FSA carbon cranks (which i am troubleshoooting at the moment) and specialised tri spokes.

I also have a CFR1 Cadex about 10yrs old upgraded with Chorus '98 on it and velocity deep V rims. This used to be my do everything bike, training/racing/climing/crits etc and it still serves its purpose rather well, if not a little heavy and flimsy, but apparently unbreakable!

Just recently i bought myself my 3rd machine, it is a Giant XTC2 disc MTB. I have only dabbled in MTB racing b4 so my impulse to buy this is still a little confusing, although i do have a group of friends who ride MTB's and i found it frustrating to not be able to ride with them when i wanted to. I have outfitted this bike with some 700c Deep V (super strong) disc brake wheels and 700cx23 tyres (vittoria rubino pro) for the sole purpose of training on the road. I still have the MTB wheels at home for the dirty weekend rides and enjoy this bike almost every day!

Will hopefully be in the market for a desent roadie in the next yr or two as the cadex is sure to wear out sooner or later and the MTB wont be real flash in a 80km road race. Maybe leaning towards a FIMAS or a Giant. Hopefully with Centaur or Chorus 10spd and maybe Eurus wheels.

2002 LeMond Alpe d'Huez, all stock, but for the saddle - Selle Italia (nice and cushy for my 225 lb frame)

Need to start putting more miles on it so I can justify something new in the next few months. Starting to get that, "I want a new bike," itch.

Only one way to fix that. Here, marinate with this image while you consider reorganizing your bank accounts for the sake of stronger legs and cleaner air:
