What shorts for Big G Distance Riders?

What shorts you distance riders using? I'm not talking about 25 mile rides more like 60 to 100 miles please. Just about anything is good on 10 to 25.

I just purchased a couple pair.

One, Black Bibs Shorts. First pair ordered, very nice stiff thick pad. First ride out 40 miles very good.

Me too pair Aerotech Design shorts touring shorts. Thick chamois pretty good on a 46 miler.

Did well but I'd say the Black Bibs were a wee bit better.

I did order 2 more pair of the Black Bibs but a week apart yes ONE WEEK APART between my two orders they sent me a couple pair with a wimpy chamois. Wth happened to the quality in that ONE week? Obviously I sent them an email expressing my disappointment asking for a refund. They said I must have received old stock. Ok, send me **** on my second order lousy customer service imo.

So I like a nice thick chamois and open to other suggestions, if you got them.

For the shorts chamois on each pair is claimed at 12 mm.

Not fond of pockets. One thing about the Aerotech shorts, the large mesh pockets on each leg. Not for me and looks funny but the shorts work well. So hopefully I can find other thick pads without pockets.

I've always been a Pearl Izumi fan.

My philosophy on purchasing shorts has always been "buy the best shorts you can't afford." It doesn't matter how good the bike is if you can't sit on it and ride after a few hours. You can have a $200 bike with comfy shorts, saddle and bars in the right place and be 5 hours in and happy or a $10,000 bike with the wrong shorts and utterly miserable.

It has to be bib shorts and they have to be great shorts, moreso if you're packing on the weight.

I've been a pearl Izumi abuser for about 24 years. Attack, podium, and a few others that worked well. From $50 to $150 models.

So a few months ago I ordered 2 pair attack shorts, $60 each. Very disappointed.

Super thin see through material and the chamois cheap as heck. Just a flat blue pads no channels, grooves or any detail.

As a PI lover I think they're cutting back these days. Just read another similar review on reddit so I know it's not just me.

Also, my wife is a Terry women's shorts lover. Last pair $150 and cheap as heck too. Super thin material vs the thick supportive fabric over the last 20 years. Cheap chamois as well. Also very disappointing.

Sign of the times I guess.

2 PI shorts and 2 pair of Terry for the wife were all ordered directly from their sites.

After the 2 PI shorts disappointment, I ordered a cheap $20 pair of Chinese shorts on ebay being curious.

Wosawe brand, a tad better than the pearl Izumi. For 1/3 the price.

Now I have the black bibs shorts 65 and Aerotech 90 dollar models. Both far better than the PI.

Everyone wants to have Ferraris and Lamborghinis these days or get that whole body cosmetic surgery job to turn themselves into an instagram model or date an instagram model w/e or just buy a really expensive house or boat.

These means everyone is going to want to make a lot more money or die in the attempt. People will get greedier and more selfish which means higher profit margins, cheaper quality of products, cheap quality PI shorts! This is a horrible time to be alive!

I've been using the Black Bibs $55 and Aerotech touring shorts $105.

Pretty much a toss up but BB bit thicker material. Aerotech thin but still good. But for the price, I'd go with BB again.

My BB are the stepped up model from the basic best buy budget model often raved about.

Chatting with a friend, says he was not impressed with the basic $35 model. I read it's just about the same except the step up has a wide grip leg band.

I myself hate the wide leg band. Shorts fit good around my thighs but the wide band is right around where my knee starts so even though fitting good around my thigh, the end of the leg looks baggy around my knee.

So I ordered the basic for a try hoping the smaller basic hem works better for me.

Ah yes, fit so much better around the thigh just above the knee. Definitely going to order another pair.

Just bought a 3rd pair of Black Bib shorts. Getting to like these things, for $35. More support than the Aerotech I bought for $105 and PI for $70.

6'1 240 pounds and feeling comfy.
