keep in mind that your DA components from '93 aren't as good as stock 105 today. every few years, shimano introduces their new batch of tweaked DA goodies and the existing just moves down the line: DA -> Ul -> 105 ...

my 105 runs perfectly fine for me, as it is a direct decendant of DA from a few years back.

I can see where you're coming from with this, I was talking with the manager at my LBS and he said back in the seventies his bike was equipped with full campy record for a total of 400 bucks. Today that might get you shoes and pedals. But it happens...
