I am going to be buying a new bike next year, and I am starting to do some research. My current bike I purchased used last year to see how much I would get into road biking.(my other bike was a mtb) I have sense fell in love with going fast on a road bike. The bike is a connondale 2.8 series 900racing, not sure what year?(97-99 would be my best guess) I'd like to be able to go to several lbs's and be able to get some good info, but I'm not exactly sure what questions to ask. I know there are several frame materials and component levels, but things like frame geometry or comparing one manufactures carbon frame to anothers. I'm not sure I know enough to get past the "well ours is better" sales pitch. I will likely be spending around $2000, wich is a decent amount of money for me, and would like to be confident that my money is well spent. I would also like to know how much improvement I am likely to see over my current ride.

thanks for the help
Luke
