2004 Look KG 386i (all carbon)
Campy Chorus
Mavic Ksyrium SL's

This thread was a nice excuse to play with the builder things on some US online store websites, and came to this, which is almost dead on 7kg and $3500.

2003 Look KG 381i (matte carbon finish, of course)
Dura-Ace 2x9
Open Pro/Dura Ace/DT Revolution built wheels
A few extra carbon bits to make it look nicer :)

Ah.. my favorite conversation. Dreams come true. I would have to say either a Colnago CT1 B-Stay w/ ultegra and Mavic Ksyriums, (a little over $3500) or a Pinarello Prince w/ same components. I'd rather go for a more expensive frame than components, even if i've been drooling for the last couple months at the new 2004 dura-ace. That Look 381i is sweet tho.

competitivecyclist.com is a good bike builder site.

Trek 5500
Bianchi XL Carbon
Look KG381i
Colnago CT1
Independent Fabrication Crown Jewel
Merckx Team SC

Any of the above frames with Campy Chorus & Ksyrium wheels.

This is an easy one - 2003 Eddy Merckx Race. If I had more $ I would of course go for the Team SC model, or both. They are possibly the finest looking bicycles in the world(apologies to Colnago.........of course).

Well I was just at my LBS and I saw a Colnago that looked really nice at $6999.00. Yes, I checked the tag twice just to make sure. So it appears $3500 may not get everyone thier dream bike after all. Pretty sad.

My dreams have already been answered:

2003 Klein Q Pro Carbon Team, full Dura Ace with Ksyrium Elites. Probably top 4k if bought retail.

Nice, nice! I'm actually getting the Q Pro 2004 model fairly soon (with custom paint!)... can't wait. So, (almost) like you, my dreams are comming true.

But if you really want to talk dreams, as in, limitless spending, how about a DeRosa King?

Hopefully, I will be in that position come next May! I have been putting away a few bucks here and there, saving my tax refund, and would have been in a position to buy a Cannondale R1000, plus a pair of Sidi shoes and the new Ultrega Pedals. All told, about $2300 bucks.

Then, last week, I unexpectedly got a bonus at work, $1500, which will put me up to the $3800 area. I am thinking about a Lemond Maillot Jaune with full Dura-Ace, a Lemond Arrivee with Ultrega, a Trek 5300, and a Colnago and a Eddie Mercks........I am going to be like a kid in a candy store!

Of course, I fully expect my wife to yank me back to earth, but the two Lemonds, the trek, and a Cannondale R2000/3000 are sure contenders.

-Waterford R-33 custom built frame (like getting a suit from a tailor, not the Men's Warehouse)
-Ultegra
-Open Pro/Ultegra, Mavic Ksyrium Elites, or Bontrager Race Lite wheels

Mmmm, quite nice.
