Whats a good average speed on an MTB?

Its relevant to gearing, terain, ground cover elevation
The gearing on my Mtn bike allows me to pedal at full pace to get about 37-39km/hour .
If you are talking average, say on my daily ride 15km uphill and 15 km downhill, all of it gravle or sand going up that average is about 12km/h thats pushing the speed on the flat bits, some of the climbs cut my speed back to about 6km/h.Comming down i get a max speed of 65km/h so the average spd for the ride creeps up to about 20.
My cofortable travling speed on reasnably flat gravle is 20-25km /hour.

18-20mph would probably make you a professional....the winner of the Chequamagon 40 this year averaged 19.1mph

All I could muster was 11.1...
Depends on the terrain. I'm good for 17-18mph on my regular 50 mile run, which is mostly gravel and hardpack and pretty flat. I don't realy perceive this as being much of a feat. I'm nowhere near exhausted when I'm done. I'm sure I could get at least 1-2 mph more. I imagine quite a few MTBers could do it as well.
