I've tried three times so far to get some tech manuals emailed to me, so far all with no response.

Klein's web site has Tech Manuals for downloading for 2001-2003, and pre 1997 models. However I'm
looking for manuals for two years in-between 97 and '01:

1998 Klein Mantra 1999 Klenin Mantra Race

Other then the automated reply 'One of our specialists will return your email shortly.' -- I never
hear back from Klein.

Does anyone know where I can get the above manuals, preferable in electronic format?

Hm.... sounds like the same great response I got from Lemond support. I wonder if Trek is any
better? There is a common thread, right? Great bikes, lousy customer service. Hopefully your LBS has
some pull. "Coal Miner" <...@...> wrote in message news:eek:prpqj3bdwupox3v@news.......

I love my Klein bike, but also hate their service. When it was time to bike a second bike I voted
with my wallet and purchased a Cannonade.

Well, my 1999 Mantra Race has now developed a problem where the internal headset has gone belly up.
The bars turn but with LOTS of resistance. This used to happen in winter, the bike is stored in an
outside shed, but would free up after turning the bars a couple of times. I have not ridden the bike
in months, due to the Winter snow and purchase of a new road bike. I was not crazy about the unique
Klein "Airheadset" and now I know why. Funny, they no longer use it in the 2003 lineup. I am
dreading my pending customer service experience.

Most companies are really not up to speed with email. Don't expect to get good service this way. Go
through your dealer, and/or use the telephone.

Actually , a Klein rep responded in a couple of days via e-mail. He said the '99 Mantra Race had a
lot of problems with the Airhead system becoming tight. I hope this means they will warranty it. I
had planned all along to take it to the dealer but now I have a bit more "ammo". We shall see.
