Wheel and arm bent

Sounds sensible to me. Also practice hopping the wheels. The back is
rather hard unless you have clipless pedals, but if you can hop up the
front and take the back over at a low speed then you shouldn't come to
grief. In a low gear, push down hard on the leading pedal as you pull
up on the handlebars, and the front wheel should come up.

As Pete suggests, the squarer you approach it the better.
