wheel / rim question

I have changed the hubsets on three wheelsets over the years; you can
change the hubsets without changing the spokesets if you want to, but
since spokesets are cheap and the hubsets may have slightly different
flangeset diameters, I have never bothered. Check the rimsets for
wear first, of course.

Presume the wheels have very minimal riding time on them so the
spokes aren't stressed or worn. Is this cost effective to retain the
spokes ?

Its fine providing the spoke length for the new hub/rim combination is
within a mm or two of the existing spokes. Thing to watch is that if
you are reusing the hub, the lacing should match the previous pattern.
If you look at each of the hub holes you will see it elongated in the
direction the spoke was pulling so make sure it pulls the same way in
the new wheel. An easy way of swapping to a new rim is to tape it to
the old rim and then just move the spokes over one by one.
