wheel size

    Hello all,
    i'm rather new to cycling. i love to ride and have been riding for a a little while but am just getting into knowing about the bike and what not. anyways, i was wondering why a bike would have a front wheel that is smaller than the back wheel with a stem that angles up to compensate and level the bike out. any explanations would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    It's hard to visualize what you are describing.
    There are some specific designs like Terry that have a smaller front wheel to allow for a shorter top tube, etc.:
