i am considering upgrading the alex at-400 wheels on my specialized allez. my initial interest is in the neuvation m28 aeros. i see though that these might also be the performance titans, the weyless korsos, and maybe a few other brands.
Q1: are they all the same, or are they spec'd differenctly by manu. [spokes, hubs, etc] Q2: are they suited to the regular and hammer-hard hill climbing in my part of western ny? Q3: are they worth it at all? i see great reviews for the neuvations, good reviews for the korsos, and terrible reviews for the titans.
i'm back into riding after a fifteen year lay-off. i love it so much i can't find the words. i'm not knowlegable on any aftermarket items. this is my first new bike since my 1975 bianchi ten-speed.

1. They are not all the same. 2. Depends on how much you weigh and your riding abilities/goals. 3. Depends on your goals and budget. I suggest hand built or at least hand finished using standard Shimano hubs like Ultegra or 105.. depending on your budget. Standard spokes like DT Competition or Sapim Race 14/15 DB and standard rims from Velocity like Aerohead or Deep V. Serviceability on these standards are great and the performance is also good.

I agree with Dave on wheel choice for your purposes. If you are going to pay $200-250, you will probably get better long-term value and serviceability from a good pair of hand-built wheels or at least hand finished machine built wheels. You can get Ultegra quality hubs and Mavic Open CD or Velocity rims for about that. The weight might be slightly more than the Korso or Neuvation, but the wheels will be more reliable and can be serviced in any shop if needed.
