Trying to solve a tight commute by riding harder is a poor plan. It makes the ride carry a problem that belongs in the plan: deciding what to do when the available time will not support the pace you want. A cutoff set before leaving is more useful than renegotiating the schedule mid-ride. The point is a deliberate choice, not a heroic one. That could mean changing modes or accepting a later arrival, not treating either choice as a defeat.
When time is tight, do you switch modes before setting off, or keep the bike plan and accept arriving later?
