Quoted message said:I started commuting to work about four months ago, it's between 20 - 25
km each way depending which route I take.
Before cycling I relied on weights and a run a couple of times a week to
keep me in shape. TBH I'm a squat junkie. Cycling five days a week,
what's the best way to fit in a set of squats once a week?
I'm not a sports scientist, nor am I at all qualified to say this (apart
from ~10 years of almost fulltime rowing training)
I'm going to take a guess and say Saturday morning (assuming you ride M-F).
Weights (strength) training, as with any training, is as much about recovery
as it is the training itself. Based on that, I'd say that you'd get more
benefit out of it if you give your legs a chance to recover from the
weights. THe other option of course being doing them Sunday night, which
would mean you are better recovered for the training, and would certainly
squat more, but I dont think you'd benefit as much.
